New Presidency and Management at EUROFORGE

Alper Kanca, owner and director of the Turkish based Kanca Dövme Çelik A.S., has been elected as the new President of EUROFORGE at the general assembly of the European national associations for the forging industry that was held in Torino / Italy on 7th of October 2016.

Mr. Kanca has an MBA degree from the Vienna University of Economics and Business and has taken several different responsibilities at the family-run concern before being assigned as Managing Director and Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors at Kanca Dövme Çelik A.S. in 2008. He is also Board member at the Turkish forging association DÖVSADER and the Kocaeli Chamber of Industry, Vice President at TOSB (Industrial Zone of Taysad and President of TAYSAD (Turkish association of automotive parts and components manufacturers). As President of EUROFORGE Alper Kanca follows José Yudego, Commercial Director Mahindra CIE Forging Europe and Mahindra CIE India, who has held Presidency for 3 terms since 2010.

After his election Alper Kanca emphasized, that “especially in times, when some politicians and some people in Europe don’t seem to see the value of common approaches and concerted actions it is important that business leaders keep on working together on a European and international level.”

At the same general assembly Patrick Sergeant, Chairman of the Directory Board of Ateliers des Janves / France and President of the French forging association AFF was elected as Vice President of EUROFORGE.

The day before the general assembly Tobias Hain, Managing Director of the German forging association IMU, had been assigned by the Executive Board as new Secretary General of EUROFORGE, following Dr. Lutz Tutmann, who retired after having held this office for more than 25 years.

EUROFORGE is the umbrella organization of the European national associations for the forging industry and has been founded in 1961 in Paris. EUROFORGE is covering all European countries being active in almost all forging technologies and fields of business like automotive, aerospace, heavy duty machinery, mining, etc. Today EUROFORGE includes associations from 11 European countries with more than 350 forging companies, 80,000 employees, 6 million tons of production capacity and an annual turnover of around 15 billion Euros.
